Picked up this record nearly a year after seeing Dijon open for Bon Iver at Champions Square in New Orleans on April 8, 2022. I had been listening to Absolutely for a few months leading up to the show, but seeing Dijon perform those songs live completely changed the way I heard the record. I was immediately drawn to the rawness of his performance and the freedom in the way he approached songwriting. Watching him perform alongside Mk.gee made an already incredible album feel even more significant. The vinyl sold out quickly after its release, so I spent nearly a year looking for a copy before finally getting one. It’s still one of the few records I can play from beginning to end without ever wanting to skip a song.
